The first NDI Foundation Global Conference was held March 2 - 4, 1998 at the Sheraton Grande Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California. Researchers from around the world presented their work on the genetics and water transport mechanisms which underlie NDI and the treatments they are finding to be the most effective. The conference concluded with a Consensus Forum to determine how the Foundation can most effectively support the NDI community.
